Emma Frost is a powerful mutant telepath born to a rich Boston mercantile family.[27][24] After parting ways with her family, she began a financial empire with Frost International and became the White Queen of the Hellfire Club.[28][29][25] In that position, she also ran the Massachusetts Academy, a preparatory school that secretly housed young mutants, who Frost trained for her own interests.[19][30][6]
Starting as an enemy of the X-Men,[31] and clashing with the New Mutants[30] and New Warriors,[32] she later had a tragic accident that changed her heart for the better, leading her to form a partnership with Charles Xavier.[33][34][35] Putting her love for teaching to good use, but never afraid to cross the line of the "morally correct", she became the co-headmaster of the new Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, where she trained the latest generation of mutants, known as Generation X.[34][36][37]
As a survivor of the Genoshan genocide due to her new ability to transform her body into nigh-indestructible diamond, she has become a valuable member of the X-Men[38][17] and a leader to the mutant community in general.[39] Currently sitting on the Quiet Council of the mutant nation Krakoa,[13] Frost also resumed the reigns of the newly rebranded Hellfire Trading Company, being responsible for controlling commercial transactions between mutants and humans.[40][41]
